This thread should play as a guide in helping those unaware of the Whedonverse style of characters, and should assist those unsure of how the site will work on those particular species. It will also give members an indication into what the admins will and won't accept.
[glow=white,2,300]Humans.[/glow] Although this is a supernatural-based site, it is always great to have a ton of human characters, as it does invoke more realistic aspects of life. Although humans are weak against most of the creatures, there is always fun for them, especially in places such as the high school. Some humans may be skilled in fighting, though we don't need an overhaul of vampire hunters, whose family were killed by vampires, and seeked revenge...We want different people. Watchers are one of the widely accepted types of occupations here. However two would be the standard maximum at this current time, as there is only one slayer at a time afterall...
[glow=white,2,300]Vampires.[/glow] Vampires are the most common species on this site, other than humans of course. In terms of power, age plays a significant role. The older the vampire, the more experienced, cunning and overall stronger the vampire is. However we can't always have five age-old vampires, as it does lead to certain imbalances. Its good to have some strong vampires, but its also just as good to have a few weaker ones also. Just remember, lower aged vampires tend to align themselves with other vampires, more powerful, to help them rise in the ranks, or survive. Their main weaknesses are crosses, holy water, sunlight fire and blunt objects. They do however have superhuman strength, durability, smell, reflexes, healing, and sensing. They are also able to jump pretty high too...
[glow=white,2,300]Vampire Slayers.[/glow]
The rarest species type you will find on this site, as there is only one into every generation. They alone have the strength and ability to fight off the vampires, though even most inexperienced slayers have many flaws. Slayers have superhuman strength, durability, resiliency, reflexes, healing, and are capable of having prophetic dreams.
[glow=white,2,300]Witches.[/glow]
Some witches can be powerful, and others weak. Unless your a big bad villan, we'd appreciate witches being on the more weaker and inexperienced scale. Its always good to see growth in characters and abilities, as theres no fun if everyone is super strong in the beginning. Where to, from there? We also are not looking for "Charmed style" awakenings to the world of witchcraft. There is only so many times students of the art can find a magical book in their grandmother's attic/bookcase. Show some creativity here...Trust me, we love it. For most basic witches, floating things is a difficulty, let alone chating serious spells. Keep this things in mind...If you are unsure of limitations, contact an admin. Try not to consider the "power" involved with being a witch, but the ingredients used to fuel that power, and the books, chanting, etc.
[glow=white,2,300]Werewolfs.[/glow]
Notice this said "werewolfs," and not "weres"? Thats because nothing other than a werewolf will be accepted, and even then, there is a high chance it won't be accepted unless the application and attention to character detail is evident. Its good to have a few werewolfs, but its also great to have a few normal people as well, you know?
[glow=white,2,300]Demons.[/glow]
Demons are the fun one...Why? Because there are so many different types. And this is where you get to have fun too, as you can make up your own type of demon, and its powers. You even get to create a name for it! Keep in mind we do have the common types of demons- vengence demons, which do make things interesting.
[glow=white,2,300]Gods/Other dimension-ey species.[/glow]
Notice the fighting chart? Theres a reason these bad boys (or girls) are listed at Level 10, which is light years above everything else. They are either near invincible, immortal, or extremely invulrunable, and therefore too many would create an imbalance the good guys wouldn't appreciate. If you wish to become one of these bad boys, you gotta speak it up with an admin first. And as they are likely to be destroyed one way or the other, won't be accepted as primary characters (this allows admins to know who they can and cannot trust with such ultimate power).
[glow=white,2,300]Gifted individuals.[/glow]
These are rare, though do exist. Some may be telekinetic, others may incinerate anything they touch with powerful volts of electricity. However due to being "uncommon," it is with great precaution that they are accepted, as said above, "normal" people are always good. From time to time though its good to have different people, however they are to a minimum in this case. And don't go too overboard...Although they have abilities, they still got them in a "realistic" sense. For that reason, we won't be seeing any humans with pyrokinesis, or freezing time. Sorry, this isn't charmed.
