“I’m a vampire, We don’t forget things, faces, dates, names It’s all up here.” he made a gun with his fingers and points it at his brain, her eye contact sent a shiver through his spine. “I, I can’t forget anything. Every face of everybody that I’ve” He stopped short of saying murdered but Eliza knew what he was about to say next as he broke the eye contact and looked to the ground.
“What they did was wrong, I know that but you’re not really mad about that. You think that by them taking you away you couldn’t help your family, but you know that’s not true, imagine if you had still been with them? You would be dead. Without you, those kids you just saved would be dead, I would be dead and whatever insect demon that was in that crate would be roaming the city doing god knows what. By being here you’ve saved countless lives.” he says, he wasn’t doing well in offering solace but he was trying to rouse something within her. ”I know that something dear to you has been taken away, but you need to use that as a weapon. Vampires and demons, they don’t understand what it feels like to lose something, all they can understand is the hunger. They are so full of greed that they can’t step back to see the bigger picture, well most of them anyway.” He said knowing that the vampires who are able to look at the bigger picture were as much of a threat to the world as any god or high demon.
He sees her body physically fighting back the tears. As he slowly approaches her, mentally trying to figure out if now was the time to hug her. He had seen it in countless films and infomercials but in his life he had never given a compassionate hug not since the eighteen hundreds anyway, he leans closer and resists hugging her simply placing his hand on her shoulder,“You’re a good fighter, you could be great.” he says as he draws a business card from the inside coat of his jacket. Sirens approached as it was clear Fire Engines had been called. “We need to get out of here, do you have somewhere to go?” He asked her as the engines got closer.

It was hard to swallow what he said as the truth but she knew that he was at least somewhat correct. Part of her always felt guilty that her parents had died and she had survived. She knew that even if she had been there she wouldn't have been able to save them but then at least she would still be with them. It was hard for her to look at the bigger picture of things, the fact that by being here she had saved many lives already. To her it just wasn't good enough, the reason she fought was because of the anger and revenge she held within her and the desire to make things right. But would that fire eventually fade? She had no way of knowing. I know what you are saying is right but it is more than that, I don't know if I can ever have a family, ever be a normal girl that goes shopping and worries about her hair and clothes. I just know too much to ever be able to live a normal, carefree life and it sucks. I don't want to miss out on falling in love and raising a family but how can that even happen when the world is such a dangerous place. With this she sighed and wiped her face.
Yeah you are right we should go she agree hearing the fire engines getting pretty close. What he said about her being a good fighter made her smile, at least she was good for something. Maybe if she opened herself up for more teaching she could even be great but she would have to find a teacher first. She remembered back at the facility how the staff had high hopes that she would be the slayer because of her natural abilities but when some girl from the city with no training had been chosen they had been devastated.
When he asked if she had a place to go she shook her head. I've been staying in abandoned buildings she shrugged. It wasn't that bad, it wasn't great but there was worse. She had food and clothing and shelter, what more did you need? [/blockquote]

He listened to her thoughts, she was like him an outsider living on the fringe of society only able to look in, unable to participate. He had a crazy notion, she wouldn’t buy it. Would she? He thought as they began walking away from the docks, smoke filled the air as the firemen arrived. He
“I have room, I live by the beach it’s pretty central close to the school.” He said optimistically like he was close to completing a jigsaw. He had purchased the apartments above his office when he arrived in Miami but he couldn’t use them due to the windows and had been confined to living in the basement while the two studio apartments were gaining dust.
“You wouldn’t have to play. I can’t offer you a family but I could train you, you could help me.” he suggested he was clearly into the idea it seemed to make perfect sense for him; especially as the girl was homeless. Maybe he was coming across a little too strong, she wasn’t an idiot she knew not to go anywhere with a vampire, he hadn’t mentioned that he had a soul, he hadn’t even told her his own name before inviting her to live with him.
He grabbed his business card and placed it into her left hand, “That’s the address it’s ‘Nexus Investigations’, I help people that need it.” he said not sure if he was selling the idea. He almost made a joke about promising not to bite her but he decided that it would be in poor taste he didn’t want to scare her off.

Noticing that the firefighters were approaching she followed the man to another, more secluded area. When he offered for her to move into his place, or a place he had she wasn't sure which it was, she was hesitant. He was a vampire after all and despite having saved her life and saved the lives of those other three humans she wasn't sold on him. I do have a question, what are you? I mean I know you are a vampire but vampires don't help humans, they kill them. Yet here you are having saved four human lives today including my own. And while I am thankful for all that you have done and appreciate the offer I need to know why she replied looking him in the eye to show him that she meant business.
Depending on how things go I will consider your offer. It is better than what I have going for me now. Plus you are a good fighter and I could learn from you but I have to be sure that you aren't trying to just bait me into being somewhere as an easy target. I am sure you understand what I mean she added waiting for his response. He seemed like a genuinely nice guy but she knew better than to base things off of looks and initial demeanor. She was pretty good at reading people but her vibe from him was mixed and confusing. She couldn't fathom how a vampire could or would even want to be a good guy. By the way I'm Elizabeth she replied sliding his business card into her back pocket. [/blockquote]

“I’m a vampire but. Well it’s complicated.” He says unsure how much to tell her, “I have a soul. I was given a soul. Well more like I was anchored with a soul thirty years ago.” he says folding his arms, “I’m trying to make amends, trying to right wrongs and get some karma points. So now I don’t drink blood. Well not human blood, I’ve not touched the stuff in thirty years. I’m just trying to help people.” he told the girl, laying all his emotions out on his sleeve. He didn't understand why but he felt a paternal instinct towards Eliza, if it wasn't for him SAEB wouldn't exist and her life wouldn't be the way it was.
found something he could relate to in Eliza, “I’m Logan, and just so you know I don’t invite every teenage runaway to come and live with me. You’re the first.” he forced a smile, this whole being nice thing was kind of awkward, it didn’t come naturally to him.
“I’m not pressuring you, you need to work this out but my door is open. Just tell the Temp that you need to talk to me, she’ll let you in.” he can see in the corner of his eye a hint of pink streaking through the night sky, it’s later than he thought, almost sunrise. He curses. “I need to go. I need to travel through the sewers, I’d invite you but it’s not the most pleasant of journeys.” He said with a smile knowing he had to run before the sky got any lighter. “You should go to the hospital, get your arm dealt with, your room will be ready if you chose to join me.” he said as he made his way towards the pipes not turning back to look at Eliza, he wondered what was going through her mind as he trudged through the waste of Miami so he could get home.
