SOMEWHERE
[li]TELEPATHIC No mind is closed to him. It’s not an ability he’s ever been able to switch off, but is rather like constantly having people talking to him. But over the year’s he’s learned to be able to ignore ones he wants to, and focus instead on single minds. When he does this, he can delve into their minds, seeing deep into their unconscious – memories, dreams, truth, lies, and more.[/li][li]PROJECTION If he wants to, he is able to create dream like states around people’s minds, but only when their asleep. People he doesn’t like have been plagued by nightmares since they met him, steadily driving (or having driven them) insane. He can also project emotions, such as fear, or pain, creating an impression on it on another’s mind, and causing them to suffer them.
[/li][li] TELEKINETIC It is possible for him to move objects around just by using his mind. Usually only small things, like another drink when he can’t be bothered to get up, or the tv remote, but moving bigger things is also easy. It just wears him out and makes him rather irritable.
[/li][li]HIGH TOLERANCE OF ALCOHOL Whether it’s because he was an angel, or because he’s ended up drinking his way through nearly all of his lives (except the one in the mental institution) he’s not sure. But he can drink even an unlucky vampire under the table. Which is slightly annoying, now, because he quite enjoyed getting drunk.
[/li][li]MODERN Judex refuses to stay behind the times. Time passes slow enough as it is, you might as well go through it having the top notch stuff around. So he learns how to use anything new as soon as it comes out.
[/li][li]GENIUS Each time he is reborn, he retains all the information from his previous lives. Add to that the fact that he was already intelligent enough to be the Judge of Deadly Sin, and yeah, he’s pretty clever. In fact, he’s safe to claim that you won’t meet anyone cleverer in this century. Or probably the next.
[/li][li]OBSERVANT He sees things that other's don't, and points them out in very sarcastic, I'm-better-than-you tones. In groups, he has the role of the truth-speaker, which is fine.
[/li][li]FAIR Judex is a judge. It’s what he was, what he is, and what he always will be. He’s the judge of deadly sin, but he’s fair. Being an angel, he had to be fair. He doesn’t take sides until he’s sure about everything, and then convicts on what he knows. [/blockquote]
WEAKNESSES
[/li][li]MORTAL He may be have been an Angel, but his punishment was to become human. He has a human body, is born as a human, and dies like a human. And more often than not, dying like a human hurts. He has been killed, many times, by many people. And for about fifteen years, they get away from it. Until they themselves are killed by an enraged fifteen year old Judex in a new human body, wanting revenge for having to start the cycle again.
[/li][li]THE CYCLE Angel’s are the counterpart’s of demons, and as such, they have souls. Even after his accidental-saunter-downwards, because he didn’t go to hell, he’s never truly lost his. Unfortunately. In fact, each time he ends up dying, no matter what from, instead of his soul being able to get back into heaven, it’s instantly moved from the dead corpse, and placed back into the body of a human baby that’s soon to be born. It’s an endless cycle of life, death, and rebirth, and it sucks.
[/li][li]COWARDLY Judex doesn’t want to die. Simple as. So yes, he will run in the opposite direction of a fight. In his opinion – let other’s do it. He was the Judge of Sin, not the Angel-Of-Stupid-Bravery.
[/li][li]HUMAN Minus his mental powers, Judex can’t actually do anything supernatural. He’s not super strong, or quick, and doesn’t have higher reflexes. Add his cowardly nature, and in a fight, he’s pretty much useless except in defence.
[/li][li]CLAUSTROPHOBIC He hates crowds. In crowds, he can’t block out all the thoughts of the people around him, and they keep building up and up, hurting his mind with the intensity of them. So he avoids large groups of humans, where possible.
[/li][li]HUMANITY He’s not a demon. Humans, though they irritate him, are also something he thinks quite fondly of. Each time he’s reborn, he has new parents, new friends, and a whole new life, and he loves them easily for caring for him when he’s vulnerable. Because until his body reaches puberty, between the age of eight and seventeen usually, he doesn’t know what he is. It’s still him, just without the memories. They haven’t caught up with him yet, when he’s that young. He cares for humans too much, and they can easily be used against him.
[/li][li]EASILY IRRITATED He is very, very easy to wind up. He’s touchy, and bitter, and all of those are elements people loved to pick upon throughout any of his childhoods, and even as an adult. Only when he’s irritated, he can’t control his mental powers, and usually ends up with himself and people around him suffering from giant headaches.
[/li][li]INSANE With the prospect of spending forever in an endless cycle with the exception of in case he manages to redeem himself, surrounded by humans who plague his mind with their thoughts, for centuries, you would be to. And he is. Quite, quite insane.[/blockquote]

IN THE WINDOW PANE
PERSONALITY Imaginative. He’s always coming up with new ideas or ways to keep his repeated existence entertaining, because he really hates being bored. When he’s bored, he starts thinking, and when he starts thinking too deeply, he ends up falling once more into depression. He’s fallen into depression quite a few times, actually. And commited suicide, though that hasn’t helped him out much, because then he had to start again.
Bitter. After spending his creation and start of his existence in a heaven dimension, then being banished to earth for basically researching what he did for a job (as he calls it), he is rather bitter. But he’s also utterly dedicated. He doesn’t stop doing something until it’s done, and he’s come out on top. He doesn’t like losing. Losing is something no angel likes, and especially not an angel who’s spent who knows how long being human. If he does lose, or make a mistake, he will stubbornly refuse to admit anything was his fault.
He’s not really that good around new people. If he knows people for a while, he’s fine, and despite being a sarcastic talker, he’s nice enough. But with new people, he doesn’t know how their thoughts will be, or how hard they will hit him, which makes him slightly wary of saying anything that will make them think. Which basically makes him wary of saying anything at all, because humans think about the stupidest of things.
He is insane. That is clear to see, and he accepts it. Being stuck in the same cycle, just with different bodies, with no space in time between each rebirth has given his soul no rest. The countless number of regenerations and memories have mangled his mind, and although he sees Humanity as, admittedly, worthwhile, he can’t stand individuals.

Now, it’s a well known fact that if any creature says that they were there at the crucifixion, you should roll your eyes and ignore them, because most likely, they’re lying. Judex, however, is a different matter. He was present at the crucifixion. He was also present at the actual birth as well, laughing in the background at the angels singing to the Shepherd’s, but it was at the crucifixion that time actual began to matter to him. That was when, for quite innocent reasons, he attempted to actually commit one of the so called sins, and start a gambling ring on the outcome of the event. That...wasn’t the best of ideas. Add to the fact that he was experimenting with being drunk at the time...
Yep. He was thrown out of Heaven for being drunk.
Really, he thought they all over-reacted. Heaven was meant to be fun, after all, yet they just threw him out. But because he had not fallen, he did not become a demon and go to the hell dimensions. No, instead, he was trapped in the human realm. Living the life of a human. Which he initially thought wouldn’t be so bad, because then his human body would die, and they would have to let him back into to Heaven again. Then he could say he was sorry, do the uncorporal equivalent of smile charmingly, and everything would be forgiven. Instead, he found himself dying...and then he was a human again. All of his rebirth’s have been hard to explain. It’s like growing up as a human who had odd dreams and memories that didn’t belong to him. He was an eight year old child when he finally gained all his memories back that first time, and his eight year old body wasn’t able to cope with it. He remembers that life, because his human body and mind went insane, and it ended rather quickly.
Other lives...they’ve be tedious. Very tedious. On some occasions, he’s been a wealthy child, on others poor. On two occasions he’s been abandoned, and he’s lost track of how many times he’s grown up staring at the walls inside orphanages. He’s only lived into old age once, however. That was too see whether, perhaps, dying in his sleep, simply from living too long, would be enough to break him from this cycle. It wasn’t. All it did was provide him with a ghost of an ache in his bones after too long. After that, he gave up with growing old, and started living as a human, living carefully to avoid dying until his body got to around 60 (or that century’s equivalent) years. Then he’d go out and find trouble, or just kill himself. On average, he’s perhaps lived through two or three lives each century...and it’s been nearly twenty centuries since he was sentenced for being what he was. He’s been born more than 60 times...that he can remember. Which doesn’t include cot deaths, still births, or miscarriages.
He was in a female body when he first actually encountered a vampire. He knew of them, of, of course, being an Angel, and fighting against them gave him that knowledge. It was in Greece, where he (she at the time) had grown up this time around. The vampire wasn’t that old, he’s sure of it, when he turned him. He had thought, at the time, that this would be a final end to the cycle, and through himself into the vampire lifestyle. He didn’t care that he was a demon. He felt like he was free. Until he encountered the Slayer of that time, that is. She staked him (then her), and he died. Turning to ash is one of the worst memories he has. And what’s more, it didn’t even get him sent to Hell, which would have been mildly interesting compared to this. No, it just got him reborn. Again. But this time, reborn into and commited to a lunatic asylum. To him, that just meant that the PTB were still watching, and laughing themselves silly at him.
Another of his more memorable lives was when he was born as future King of England, Henry VIII’s only son Edward. For once, he actually knew who he was from birth, and wasn’t just a child, afraid of being different. But that appeared to be a game to the PTB as well, because he was sickly, and he died not long after actually becoming king. He could almost hear their laughter even as he opened his eyes to a bright new world, and screamed with baby lungs. Except, he didn’t know that at the time, what with having a baby’s mind.
He hates this. And has sworn that this one will be his last.
He was born to an American family this time, named Sebastien Arnold Chivers, raised as a normal child was (a normal child who suffered strange dreams, and cried about hearing people who weren’t there anyway). His memories came through, this time, when he was thirteen, but he controlled himself. He loved his family this time around, anyway...the time before that he hadn’t at all. He studied at school, and buckled down to work, but also concentrated on his own powers. He’d been doing this, on and off, for centuries, but this time, he tried to learn how to use them to attack.
But honesty? He was going to put off his plan to go kill demons. He had a nice family, good friends, and a labraudor puppy called Bex. He didn’t see why he should have to give all this up, just to go and fight against creatures that didn’t know what he was, because he was only different from humans in mind. So he changed his mind, and decided to live a good life, abiding by the rules, and then going to kill demons. And he would have stuck by that, as well. If a band of vampire’s hadn’t chosen his small village-town to attack. They tortured every living soul they could find, and feasted upon the blood of everything. Oddly enough, it wasn’t his parents being killed, or his best friend, that mad him get mad. It was his dog.
That got him mad. He’d liked Bex. For the first time in so many years that he’d lost track, his eyes blackened, and he forced a wave of pain and guilt towards the vampire. He lost control at that point, and isn’t proud of it, but he did...and he ripped their minds apart, before just wandering off, leaving them simply standing in a row in the street. Let them suffer the burning. He had done.
He was only nineteen human years when that happened. And for ten years, he’s travelled around, finding demons, and killing them. Not well, admittedly...usually just leaving them to the sun, but still, he was getting rid of them. He just watches now, watches as they are immobile, trapped in their own thoughts, and as they burn. On one occasion, not too long ago, he decided to change that pattern. He arranged the vampires into a pattern, then as they burned, used his mind to spread to ashes. It tired him, doing that, but by the end of it, the name Judex Peccato was lying on the ground. He’d adopted that name for himself – meaning Judge of Deadly Sin.
He only came to Miami on hearing that the souled vampire was there. Usually, he didn’t care for any creatures like that. A vampire was a vampire, and a souled one...well, hah to them, they were screwed. But then he heard that this one was seeking redemption. Like him. Only, he wasn’t doing a very good job of it, considering he’d been trying for lifetimes. Maybe this one would be able to figure out how to do it. It was worth a try. The worst that would happen would be he’d be killed.
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT I’d quite like him to be part of Logan’s Investigations, eventually at least. He arrives in Miami looking for creatures to kill, or to leave for dead anyway, and heard of the souled vampire on his way. Plus, he’s looking for redemption. While Logan wants to become human again, he just wants to stop being human and get back to being how he was, which could cause quite a few amusing conversations. He could be a bit like Lorne was for Angel, seeing as although he can be violent using his mind, he doesn’t like actual fighting. And he's more sarcastic than empathic. With the Slayer, he doesn't really like them, and would rather put someone else between him and her, but other than that, he wouldn't see her as being any different to any other human. Seeing as he doesn't kill humans as a rule, he wouldn't care. But he can still kill. Threading his actual first meeting with Logan could also be rather entertaining. But he can be serious, and a port of call for advice for both older and younger people.

Head’s, I stay. Tail’s, I go. People were talking around him, but he was ignoring them. Well, he thought people were talking. It could just be that they were thinking, and that they were thinking incredibly loud, but Judex had never fully learned to tell the difference. Perhaps he should spend time doing that, if this whole saving-the-world-and-earning-redemption-in-the-eyes-of-those-he-wouldn’t-admit-were-better-than-him thing didn’t work out. After all, it wasn’t as though he had any lack of time on his hands.
He flipped the coin once more on the bar top in front of him. It came up tails. It always sodding came up tails.
“Nuther drink,” he said without looking up at the plastic faced human serving behind the bar. He didn’t say please. He didn’t see why he should, because American beer was rubbish. British beer, now that he liked, but he hadn’t been born into Britain this time. And flying in an aeroplane was just...wrong. He’d been cast down once, thank you very much, and didn’t really fancy dying by that method. It looked rather painful.
“Y’know what?” he said, picking the coin up again and tossing it from hand to hand. “This place is shit.” What year was it? Damn, he should know those things. Perhaps he was finally getting senile...no. No, he’d been senile and that had not been fun. There was no point living past a certain age, he’d long since decided upon. No, he was just insane. But what else was new?
“If I wasn’t here to save all your asses, I’d kill you,” he mumbled, grabbing his new drink, and raising it to his lips. Would he? Kill them, he meant. Well, he could do. But his job had never been to kill people. That had been Loki’s, the moron. Judex sort of wished it had been his, now. Killing people rather than saving them would have been an easier option to get back. Saving them...well, that wasn’t going to be much fun. Especially if he died. If he died, he’d be annoyed.
“Well...” he drawled after downing the drink, then rising to his feet, ignoring the fact that no one else in here actually seemed to be paying him the slightest bit of attention. Unless he was the ‘weirdo-drunk’ they kept talking-slash-thinking about. How insulting. He wasn’t drunk. “Love to stay and chat, but must offskie to save the world. Toodles!”
Hmm...or should he stay? He could always try flipping the coin again.
