“Look, see, I’m sure we can come to some sort of agreement, luv. No need to do that, is there!” Judex didn’t get a response. He didn’t really expect one, in all honest, because all he was getting mentally from the cursed creature was Feed, feed, no, hungry. Damn fledgling vampires. He’d only been taking a walk, that was all, wandering down towards the smell of the sea. He loved the sea. He always seemed to love the see, no matter what body he was lumbered with. Admittedly...he’d had a few drinks, but he was still upright, and walking, and it didn’t count as being drunk if you didn’t have to hold onto the ground when lying down, so he was sober.
He’d gotten lost, yes, but still, he was sober. He hadn’t expected to be jumped on and brought face to face with a rather icky looking, hungry humanoid creature. A vampire, that was now pinning him to the ground. Damn, he did not want to die just after arriving in this sodding town! It had taken him long enough to build up the guts to come here in the first place. Also, he was getting sand down his shirt, and it was really irritating him now.
“I mean...I’m sure I don’t taste too good. Really sure. In fact, it’s been said on a number of occasions how positively icky I do taste,” He wasn’t panicking. Not at all, definitely not. He reached up to grab the vampire’s arms, in an effort to push it away and off of him. Stupid creature, really. But at least he could think clearly, with no intelligent voices bombarding his brain. Beside the whole Hungry eat now thing this guy had going on. But if his mind was clear, why wasn’t he using it? He frowned, considering that for a moment, before admitting to himself that he’d had to relent. Ok. So...he was panicking. Just a little.
“Insane, after all. That’s probably contagious. Don’t want to turn yourself mad do you, you little fu...OI! Watch it!” The teeth snapped closed inches from his neck, and Judex decided, what the hell, and cried out, starting to hit the creature. Some welcome this was, into the town! “I am not vamp food! Go grab yourself someone else, creep!” Wasn’t there meant to be a Slayer around here? Or some other do-gooders to help the likes of him? Or...innocent walkers, anyway, because he was pretty sure he was unique in all other senses. Although...well, he had to admit that if this had been happening to anyone else, he wouldn’t have interfered. Would have just laughed. But again, he was unique. And if that was actual laughter he was suddenly hearing, and not just thinking-laughter, someone was going to get their guts ripped out if they didn't get themselves over here to help.[/blockquote]

Logan strolled along the beach, he enjoyed the beach at nighttimes. It was quieter. Some stoners would sit by the shore playing bongos, occasionally bonfires were started but that was severely frowned upon. He had never actually visited a beach at any other time of the day. Before he was cursed beach culture was never really a ‘thing’ in England in the 1800s. A shame really. It was one of the things he envied most about the human population of Miami.
The fact his office was so close to the beachfront made it Logan’s first port of call for his nightly patrol. If he was lucky he would halt the effort of Mexican shark demons crossing the border, however on your average night he would simply deal with vampires. It appeared tonight would be one of those nights.
The skirmish caught his eye from across the beach. Maybe skirmish was the wrong word for the situation. A blonde male was being overpowered by a vampire who was unyielding in its attempt to chomp down on the man’s neck. Logan rushed, his leather shoes were not ideally suited for running on sand yet he soldiered on, grabbing a stake from his leather jacket.
He stabbed the vampire from behind. The stake plunging into the Vamp’s heart, it quickly burst into dust its teeth mere millimetres away from the man’s neck. Logan dusted the remains of the vampire from Judex’s shoulder. “Be more careful this city, it’s more dangerous than you would imagine.” Logan said before he continued to walk, his first good deed of the night had been done, maybe redemption was closer than he thought.

Judex was unaware that he wasn't alone...well, that he and the stupid vampire weren't alone, right until said stupid vampire exploded into dust. He couldn't contain the wince really. Exploding into dust was a painful way to die. He sure hadn't enjoyed it when it had happened to him. But he couldn't really feel sorry for the vampire, because it had been trying to eat him.
"Vampire's still poof into dust then? Blimey, you'd think they'd modernise a little." He remarked to himself, rolling over in the sand and scrambling away from the dust spot. Eww, now he had dust on him as well. This was really not a good night to be wearing a suit. "No, but that's probably too much to ask. As if one would modernise. Rare you see one who knows how to work a mobile phone...would you look at my suit!" He stood up, brushing himself down with a scowl, then looked for the first time at the man who had...saved him. Saved him. Oh, damn, he'd have to start doing that, wouldn't he? Saving people. "Dangerous? Vampires. What else is new? Now, organised crime, that's dangerous. Vampire's are fine in the town with the slayer in. As long as you don't...wander...off..." He paused, glancing around. Yeah...this probably counted as wandering off, didn't it? But really, he'd had nowhere to wander off from, so it wasn't that bad. He was only breaking his own rules, and you always did that anyway. Judex didn't think there was a way you could survive for a lifetime without breaking at least one of your own rules. But still...he'd wandered off, didn't know this town, and evidently, that man who was wandering off did, and had a stake. Stakes were good. He liked stakes. "Hey! Wait up!" [/blockquote]

Logan stopped in his tracks, he wondered how the person he had just rescued had such knowledge of the supernatural, he wasn’t surprised the amount of crazy stuff that had been going down in Miami he was surprised demons had not yet hit the headlines. Logan looked the victim up and down, he looked average, not too tall, not the most handsome man in the city nor was he the ugliest, he had a good face for blending in. He murmured a little, he spoke so much Logan wondered if he was merely talking to fill the silence.
“I’d be more worried about the potentially fatal wound on your neck, you can buy another suit, not another life.” he said completely unaware of Judex’s unique situation. “You’re a little overdressed for the beach aren’t you?” Logan questioned the man.
“If you know about vampires how the hell did you let one attack you?” Logan asked, he was becoming increasingly suspicious of the situation. “Plus Eli--” he stammered for a second, “The slayer can’t always save you. She can barely look after herself.”
He tried to place his accent, he was well spoken, clearly English. He tried to pin the accent to a specific region but he had not been to his home country in so long that he had become rusty. “So where are you from? That certainly isn’t a Miami drawl you’ve got there.”

Oh, good, the man had stopped. Yes, that was a good thing. Walking was making the sand creep further down the back of his suit, and it was hard to resist not to just itch it. But he was good at avoiding temptation. Perhaps, if he wasn't, he wouldn't be where he was now, really. He could have fallen further down. That could, actually, be quite interesting, come to think of it. Being a vampire was the closest he'd gotten.
"Huh?" his eyes opened wider, and his left hand flew up to clutch at his neck. bite wound? Damn, wound? Blood...He felt the small bite with probing fingers. Didn't feel deep. Not that deep, anyway. It would heel. It was kill, painwise, but wouldn't kill lifewise. "Oh. That. Won't kill, don't be thick. Had worse. Had a lot worse, actually. Creature had rubbish teeth anyway. Not suprising giving the amount of sugar vampire's love to eat."
He looked down at himself, then shrugged, grinning, "Well, didn't know I was going to be on a beach until I got here, did I? Can't see the future, can I? That would be stupid, and most likely depressing. And just because I know about them don't mean I can fight them. Course not. Simply human, ain't I?" He was rambling, quite clearly, but Judex did that a lot. He was insane, after all, and had been insane for longer than this guy had been alive. He paused, before sighing. "Well. That sucks. Baby slayer, eh? All are one at some point."
He snorted, drawing to stand alongside the other, slightly taller, man. "Well duh. Never had one of them. Anyway. You know vamps, you know the slayer, and don't say you don't, you nearly said her name. It begins with an 'E', don't it?" Just because he was insane didn't mean he didn't listen. Somtimes. "Is where I come of any concern? No. Where's the Souled Vamp Guy?"

Logan fought back a smile, the eccentric man in front of him was clearly deranged but Logan couldn’t resist smiling. “So you’re just ‘simply human’, I find it hard to believe any human is simple.” He said lethargically, it had been so long since he had been a human he had forgotten how it felt, but he checked out. He didn’t smell extraordinary, he wasn’t decaying nor did demon blood rush through his veins. “Just be more careful, simple people normally plan routes before they go walking, stick to crowded areas.” Logan imparted his advice and was ready to leave when Judex mentioned the ‘souled vamp’.
Logan was hesitant to answer the question about the souled vampire. Clearly the Brit was referring to Logan himself but Logan wasn’t sure if his end goal was of good or evil intent. He shrugged his shoulders, “Know of him. Don’t actually know where he is.”. In his rich history of battles; mental instability was never something you couldn’t bet against. Many great and powerful demons were so warped by their own delusions that they may has well not have lived in this dimension, yet they fought with such fury that you could never predict their patterns or next move.
Logan cocked his head to the side a little, “Why do you want to find him?” he asked boldly, “Got a score to settle?”

"I was being sarcastic. being human ain't simple. It's irritating and depressing." Although, it wasn't so depressing this time around. probably because he wasn't burying himself in drink, or girls, or boys, or shoes, and hey, that had been a rather weird trip to a shopping center in his last lifetime, the one with the shoes. He shuddered at the very memory. "Ain't that generally obsessive, intelligent people who plan things? Not simple?"
He would have asked more about that, or argued his point, and he quite likely could have done, if the other man suddenly appeared to have something to think about. Ouch. he winced this time, not shuddered, the background buzz which he'd been aware of, but been ignoring increasing in volume. not that it was ever quiet, though, unless he was completely alone, and then usually his thoughts were loud enough anyway. He couldn't shut others off, like he couldn't shut his own. And yet he could do, before all this had actually happened. Not that he'd ever needed to, up there.
"Ouch. Don't lie, seriously. Hurts, that does. You evidently know more than just 'of him', or something, so just cut to the chase before I have to do something I will regret." Like lowering the weak block he had in place to just hear what he was thinking about more clearly. He would regret that though. It always made him feel like he was hungover. Oh...but thinking back over those words did make him realise that they could be taken as a threat.
"Me, a score? Hell no, relax. I'm one of the good guys." You couldn't really get much gooder than an angel, really. Even a fallen angel. Although, he'd been more kicked out than fallen, and that had been an idiotic thing for the powers to do anyway.

Logan cautiously grinned, if he was good he hadn’t always been good. There was something in his tone, his mannerisms. Logan couldn’t explain it but he knew the feeling of constantly being better than you truly were. He confidently extended his arm to shake hands with Judex, “Vampire with a soul pleased to make your acquaintance.” he locked hands with Judex in a firm handshake, the warm human hand offered a firm handshake, “Do you mind if we walk and talk? I’ve got places I need to go, so what brings you to Miami? I hope it’s not just me because I would hate to disappoint you.”
He began to walk across the beach with Judex a few steps behind, it was quiet enough for them to speak at full volume without causing any suspicion. Logan continued to probe Judex for answers, “So you’re a ‘good guy’, that’s nice to know there’s been a severe shortage of them recently you may have noticed the city has gone a little loco.”
The city had truly lost it recently, with the vampire inner circle opening the portal, then Gemma’s death and even more recently the bizarre magical energy that had been unleashed in the city, nobody had any idea what was going on and currently the only people able to do anything about it were himself, Owen and Eliza. Her gang of teenage friends weren’t even worth mentioning, he had seen them in action and they weren’t even worth mentioning, actually right now he was desperate for some help in any form. He had even contacted the Watcher’s Council. “What’s your name?”

Judex blinked, then narrowed his eyes, staring at the man...no, quite clearly, judging by his lifeless-body-temperature-wise grip, he was a vampire, and according to him, the one and only souled. Being an old judge gave him a good grasp of what were truths, and what were lies, and, unless that fact had been knocked of kilter anytime recently, this guy...was telling the truth. Bugger, he'd actually done it. "Y'know, simply sayin' that first time round would have been easier."
He was trying to place whether he'd seen the vampire before, as they walked. Remembering everything he had ever done, including dying, wasn't the best thing to be proud of, but it did give him an advantage. And yet, despite that, he couldn't remember meeting him before. So no past meeting to base everything on. Oh, goodie. "So you're the souled vamp guy? Well, explains how you came to save little ol' me. And...Uh, nope. Ain't noticed a thing. Only arrived this morning." Although, that had meant to be, 'only arrived yesterday', but his train had broken down. Whether that was just the train, or the PTB trying to stop him, he didn't know, but he did like to think it was the latter. That would mean he was onto a winner.
"Oh yep, total good guy, me. Can't get gooder. Honestly, you can't, and hey, I don't much like that. Y'know demons are all bad? Well, all demons without souls, anyay? Voila, meet the opposite." He was pretty confident of that save, after all, vampires were demons weren't they? Saying this one was bad, when obvious he was the crime fighting superhero soul-wearing guy, was not a good move.
Judex shoved his hands into the pockets of his suit pants, keeping up with the vampire in little bounding steps. Walking normally was odd, in whatever body he was in. Skipping was more fun. "The names Judex, but honestly, you can call me Jude. Won't both saying my last name, because I doubt you'd be able to pronounce it. And actually...no, don't call me Jude. Sounds weird, that does. Just Judex."
