The loud blaring music was a signal of the no doubt headache to come. He was in the midst of the club dressed in nice enough clothes for a club, with a blazer to match and sitting calmly at the bar. He casually sipped on a mohito and looked around with a bored expression. Eventually she came sauntering through.
Brunette, seductive, and with alluring eyes. She had every guy in the vcinity attention when she walked in. While most tried to psyche themselves up to approach her, Owen had no such compuctions and walked right up to her and gave his best million dollar smile and said " Can I buy you a drink?"
They did the dance for a while, flirting and drinking as he laid on the charm and finally she said the magic words " You want to get out of here?"
"Thought you'd never ask."
They got as far as the back alley behind the club before she was pressed against him and her lips against his. He pulled away and said " I have to ask one thing?"
"Yes?"
"How the hell does that even work on people any more?" Owen said as he tossed her into the wall opposite him. She snarled as her face morphed to that of a vampire.
"Don't get me wrong you're pretty hot, but you pracitcally radiate evil. I think a neon sign would have been more subtle. Seriously the whole femme fatale thing was cool back in the 90's but we;re past that now."
"You talk too much." she said as she leapt at him teeth bared
"It's a flaw." he countered back as he lashed out a punch " But hey, you thought I was just another meal well you thought wrong."
She then let out a small giggle and said "....and you thought I was alone."
Owen caught the smell of undead flesh and looked around. Coming in the alley was at least five more male vampires there fangs bared and thier proverbial game faces on.
"Do you have any idea what you stumbled into?"
" Your trying to start an all vamp boy band?" he said as he flexed his wrists and the stakes he had attached to bracers came out and he capitalized on the suprise by the lead female vamp and moved quickly stabbing the female through the heart as she ashed and the other vamps began to move in on him, enraged.
Miami.... no place like it.

Things had been crazy lately in Miami that was for sure. Eliza had discovered that a girl that went to Miami High named Gemma was the slayer and not long after that discovery a huge fight broke out between some vampires that had been runninga muck in the town and her. One of the vampires had succeeded in overcoming her and killed her, but she was revived by a friend of hers only to be left in a coma. Eliza wasn't sure what that would mean, she knew that when one slayer died another one was called but she didn't know the rules if the slayer still lived but in a comatose state. It wasn't a good situation at all.
Since her demise the destruction in Miami had become worse and worse despite the slayer's group plus Logan and Eliza patrolling at night in place of the slayer. Things were going bad at best because all the vampires and demons knew that the slayer was out of the game for now. Doctors thought it was highly unlikely and near impossible that she would ever wake up and for that fact Eliza prayed that another slayer had been called. The world, especially Miami needed her.
It wsa a normal night for her, out doing her rounds and patrolling. Her spot of the night was in town and after patrolling in relative silence for a good half an hour she heard a commotion near the night club. Of course, it was a pretty juicy spot for the vamps. Breaking into a jog she rounded the corner and saw a familiar face, Owen. She had discovered what his real name was after they had both joined Logan's group, Owen had took off before the big ordeal and no one had seen him in a couple months. Yet now here he was.
Pulling out a stake she moved towards one of the vampires and staked them through the heart from the back which turned the others attention to her as well as Owen. Now that their attention was diverted it would be easier to kill them. [/blockquote]

As one of the vampire's ashed, he turned and saw a familiar, yet at this time unwelcome face. Eliza. He had met her first in a hospital and that hadn't been the greatest of meetings, then later when he threw in his lot with the ensouled vampire Logan, they met again. They had become sort of a team, until he took off. He had been hoping to not run into either Eliza or Logan for a while, but apparently there were other forces at work.
He used her ashing to his advantage and moved in swiftly, grabbing another vamps arm and swung inward with his stake gauntlets and ashed his second vampire of the night, leaving two left.
Granted by the looks of it he had used up the last of his suprise moves as the last vamp that decided to persue him, was ready as they began to trade punches, the vampire not getting too lcose to his steaks, and Owen ot getting too close to that nest of teeth the vamp called a mouth.

If Owen was surprised or happy to see her he sure didn't show it. But of course if she had skipped town right before a big fight and then randomnly showed up again she wouldn't want the people she had screwed over see her either. But as much as Eliza no longer trusted or respected Owen she wasn't going to act like she hated him because she didn't. Sure she was angry he had left but what was done was done and there was nothing anyone could do to change it. Owen would have a long road ahead if he chose to redeem her trust in him but if he decided not to then that was fine and dandy as well. For now she chose to fight by his side as opposed to against him.
Seeing him enganged in combat with one of the two surviving vamps she turned towards a particularly large male vampire. Without a second thought he charged at her and she did the same. The collided in an array of kicks, punches and swings. Something was different though, this fighting thing was easier for her, it didn't seem so hard and when she punched the vampire he actually got hurt. Usually she would be struggling right now but instead she was kicking this vampires ass with ease. After one six punches she had him pinned against a chainlink fence and with a quirky grin she slayed him.
Everything felt different for some reason. She felt stronger and more alive, it was weird. Maybe it was just some after fight rush or adreniline kick? She made a mental note to find out from Logan what might be going on. He was always a good person to ask when in doubt. [/blockquote]

Eliza seemed to get her half of the fight done with relative ease. She appeared to have gotten better at fighting since he had last seen her, or at least it appeared to him. Hoewever the slaying of his last compatriot seemed to throw the vampire off and it decided that perhaps fleeing was the better idea. So he leapt over the chainlink fence, and started to run through a parking lot on the other side of the fence.
"Damn it! Get back here!" Owen yelled in a bit of frustration as he followed over the fence figuring Eliza would follow if she wanted to. He was in no position to expect her backup.
If the vampire managed to slip away into the Maimi nightlife it'd be gone, and leaving pissed off vamps in your wake was never a good thing.
He hit the ground running after the last vampire.

The one last vampire turned and took off before Owen could stake it. It was only a moment after that that Owen jumped the fence after the vampire and went into pursuit of the escaping vampire. It was never good to let any of them get away, the more of them they could kill the better off the human population would be. Eliza grabbed her stake quickly and ran to he fence scaling it quickly which was something she would have been able to do before but not so quickly and accurately.
Running after Owen she stayed about 10 paces behind him and 25 paces behind the vampire as they ran after him. Slowly she gained on Owen and was soon running right on his heels. She would wait to ask him about his random disappearance until they were no longer running after an escapee vampire. If she really pushed herself she felt like she would be able to pass up Owen and probably catch up to the vampire but because she didn't understand what was happening to her she didn't want tp push herself too far, not knowing what her breaking point was exactly. Why did I pick tonight for a walk Hope thought to herself. The slight chill in the air seemed to suck the strength right out of her. After waking from another strange and horrible nightmare she couldn't just go back to sleep.
Needing some time to get her thoughts together. That is how she found herself in the middle of town alone and cold. "This wasn't one of your better decisions" talking to herself. Looking around to try to figure out where she had managed to get herself. Still not sure she decided to keep going. She would find some sort landmark soon, she hoped.
Suddenly hearing someone running down the ally next to her. The smart thing to do would be to hide or run. But have a strange feeling that this wasn't a mugger or robber. Peering into the ally but unable to see anything. The same senses that told her that something was very odd about the person that she couldn't see in the ally told her that she shouldn't go any closer. Sadly, no one ever accused her of doing the normal thing in strange situations she walked into the ally. It seemed to get colder as she walked into the ally, starting to feel a little sick . When fully in the ally down a ways from the entrance she heard two more running people coming towards her. Now everything was starting to get a big to strange even for the curiosity. When she turned to get away two strong hands grabbed her from behind. Letting out one scream before the vampire covered her mouth with his hand. To afraid to struggle she trembled in fear. A vampire....not knowing how she knew this thing was a vampire without even seeing it was so strange to her that she thought it was her imagination. But she was sure..as sure as she knew the color of her eyes.
Two people ran into the ally. The girl she knew from school but didn't know her personally. The man she didn't recognize at all but they were carrying weapons. Hope tried to scream for help but the vampires hand was tight on her mouth.
This really was a bad night to take a walk

He heard as Eliza seemed to not be doing too bad as she was keeping up with him as they chased after the vampire. Thye had almost got to him when a girl came out of nowehere and the vampire grabbed her up mas she stood afraid now. Owen stopped short and the slowly aprached and said "Easy man..."
"Back of or the girl dies young." the vampire said with a snarl.
Owen made a split decisin and held his hands and said " Easy man, I was just hired to kill the chick. I didn't know that you were going to be there. My informants crap" he said as he reached into his back pcket and pulled out a small poloroid shot of the girl vampire he had already dusted and tossed it by the vampire feet. As the vampire looked down Owen put his hand behind his back and crossed his fingers. The kindegarden era symbol of " I'm lying".
Hopefully Eliza would play along, if not....well at least he gave her warning this time. For now he turned back to his task, convincing the vampire he was out ofr number one and didn't much care about innocent bystanders...not an unfamliair acting role.
"Hey man if you kill the girl hear, people could see and then we all have a lot of questions we don't want answered. A family of one of the dudes she wasted hired me to deal with her, you guys got in the way, but if you step back into the parking lot, you go one way i go another...and you can keep the kid for all i care as long as me and my associate get clear."
There was a very long pause as Owen began to regret his decision and thought maybe he had just cost this girl her life. However, the vampire then looked back and forth and then said " Alright but slowly, and if I see any tricks the girls dead."
The vampire backed slowly forward and Owen walked backward though he kept his eyes on the vampire and the vampire kept his eyes at Owen's hand where his sping mounted stakes were.
But as he kept his eyes on Owen, Eliza became background noise.
He could only hope somewhere during his time away, the girl had learned how to roll with punches a bit better. From what he knew about her, she was still to regimented in how she acted moved, fought.
But who knows...people change

After rounding a corner she stopped right behind Owen and saw that the vampire they had been chasing had ahold of a girl. It was a teenage girl, she looked pretty small and probably scared. Following Owen's lead Eliza stayed silent and kept her eyes on the vampire. Owen was making some sort of deal with the nasty creature which Eliza knew was probably just a con to get the vampire to think they were going to let him go. Naturally they weren't of course, or at least Eliza wasn't gonna let him go. He deserved to die and that was that. Simple enough concept.
As the vampire started to get closer and closer to where she stood she kept an eye on him and turned all her attention to only him, ignoring Owen for the time being. The vampire had decided to make a stupid move by ignoring Eliza and only focusing on Owen, which meant it left Eliza open to kill the creature without it even being able to react. This way actually starting to feel a little too easy as the creature got to the point that it was past her, its back was now turned to her, even more of a stupid move on his part.
Letting Owen be the distraction she slowly slid a stake out of her sleeve and right as the vampire was about to make a break for it she lunged forward and staked him perfectly through the heart from behind. Her new skills amazed even her, before recently she would have never been able to do that. As the vampire turned to dust right there in front of her Eliza turned her attention to the girl that was now free from the blood sucker. Are you ok? she asked the girl walking a little bit towards Owen so that she could see the girl's face and make sure that nothing harmful, physically, had happened to her. [/blockquote]

She wasn't that scared when he took her. She had been bullied so much and this was just something similar. When the man showed up and the vampire decided to use her as a shield she was both confused and scared. He wasn't going to bully her. He was going to use her as a shield against the other man. She had thought the other man was going to try to save her but when he started negotiating her hopes fell. He was going to leave her with him. It didn't surprise her. She was just a useless little girl.
Out of the corner of her eye she noticed the girl approaching. She wanted to yell for her to get away. She was to afraid to to yell to her though and she kept coming. She came right up and put a wooden stake through the vampire and suddenly she wasn't being held at all ... only covered in dust like ash. She went to her knees in surprise and fright. When she finally got herself back together she found the girl that saved her beside her. She looked at her with awe and fear. She had just killed that vampire with so much ease. She wished she was strong like that.
She did the only thing she could think of to do in the situation that she thought wouldn't be completely inappropriate. She grabbed her in a big hug and started to cry while thanking her. "Y...Y..You saved me! Thank you so much ... nobody else would have helped me. Your amazing!
If she wasn't in so much shock she would notice that she was the slayer and that the other man was a demon. But she was just not able to think straight.

Vamp dusted innocent saved. All and all that was not the worst outcome that could have went down. The vampire rolled the way Owen thought and he got a stake in the heart for it. As the girl ran and hugged Hope. Owen debated waiting there until the frightened girl had skipped off to wherever she was going so that he and Eliza could talk.
Then again....
There were probably questions, questions he couldn't answer so easily.
Well if it worked for the vampire.
As the girl was still hugging and crying, Owen stepped off to the side and then slid into the shadows of the building. A quick hop and a jump back over anther fence and he was gone leaving the girl and Eliza, hoping she wouldn't follow him.
Still was quite ready to step into the arena again. He had unfinished business and he had to focus on that. The vampires had been a nice warmup, but there was still work to be done.
(exit stage left!)
