Late as usual. Or was he just too early? Zane sighed, as he stood against the cemetery gate. It was roughly 9pm, therefore was thought to be a good time to hunt for vampires. He just wished the others would hurry up, before he would be the one hunted himself. He had come as prepared as he could though; stakes, holy water and crosses. One was around his neck, just to prevent, or more-like delay a vampire sneaking up on him and going for the bite. If he just happened to become vamp food tonight, he knew who his first targets would be.
The past month had been so hard for them all, it seemed. Their good friend Gemma was killed in battle, luckily revived but now in a coma. He still goes and visits her as much as he can, but even the doctors don't see much chance of her waking up. She is a slayer after all, but was slayer strength even enough to snap out of a coma that serious? Then there was Catherine. She was sent back to the homeland when there was no use for her anymore. They had a use for her, after all, she was the only one who really knew what she was doing with all this vampire and slaying stuff. She was a valuable asset and friend, who was taken away from them. Then there was Preston. He wasn't necessarily gone; only on a forced trip with his parents, where they weren't even sure when the return date was. He hoped it would be soon, he had missed his best friend.
Things had changed so much since the battle with Azazel. Discovering his druidic blood, being one of the main things within his life, even still. He was just learning about this new part of him, which Arya was helping him with. Even the discovery that Arya was dabbling in witchcraft came as a shock. It seemed that everything he thought to be one way, turns out to be another. They couldn't just drop everything because it got hard though, they had already been introduced into this massive world of the supernatural, and therefore they couldn't just stop and not fight anymore. It may not always be the good fight, but it was the right thing to do in the end.

What time was it? She was almost one hundred percent sure that she was running late which was pretty odd for her. But her little sister's had begged her to stay and help them with something before she was able to escape the confines of her house. Things had been crazy lately and a little stressful, well more stressful than they had been before. A huge battle had broken out not too long ago and Gemma, who Arya had found out was something called a slayer, had been killed in battle. Preston had revived her but there was little hope of her return. Now the vampires knew that the slayer was gone and they were out in numbers trying to run the town.
Arya had gotten more advanced in her witchcraft especially since Gemma had fallen because she figured knowing magic gave them an edge that they didn't have otherwise. It wasn't like her powers were that grand and even though she couldn't stop or kill a vampire with a spell she was able to do some spells and chants that almost always worked and sometimes were useful. It really just depended on the situation. Things had been bad between her and Zane for a little while due to the fact that Zane had discovered some interesting things about his past and Jasper had kind of made things hard for them what with him hating her for being a witch and all. But things were starting to mend themselves now that Jasper was gone, of course it was hard to say how long he would stay gone for.
Finally arriving at the graveyard enterance she saw Zane standing there. Sorry I'm late she panted a little slowing to walk as she had been running most of the way. Her outfit consisted of a pair of black jeans, a very dark blue shirt and a black jacket. She carried a bag on her shoulder that contained some basic weapons like stakes, holy water, etc. It was good to have extra stuff even if it wasn't always convenient to try and get into a bag while a vampire was after you. Her, Zane and Christine were by no means that great at what they were doing but it was what they had to do now that Gemma was out of the game. It was their duty to protect those that didn't know about the dangerous things that went bump in the night. [/blockquote]

Hearing a noise in the near distance, Zane jumped slightly. He couldn't be getting attacked by a vampire already! He wasn't ready, and he would be vamp food within seconds. He had fought vampires before, with a slayer right there...But all he had was a stake and poor fighting skills versus super fast and super strong. And oh, the whole aiming for the heart while having knarly teeth trying to bite you...He was never good with target practice. There was a difference between moving targets, and a blood thirsty vampire.
Noticing it was Arya, he smiled, moving in and hugging her tightly. He noticed she was panting, causing him to smirk softly. "Hey...You can't be panting already, we haven't even began. Unless you just went psycho vampire killer on me, then we might need to sit down and talk." He chuckled softly. "Its okay," he stated, in relation to her being late. "You'd think after all this time I'd just learn not to come so early. Not really good for the whole surviving thing...Young boy alone in a cemetery is just screaming vamp food." He was more than happy to see Arya had made it. It really would've been more productive to just go there together, for safety reasons, and because he was seeing Arya. But lately, the reasonable choice had been the one they had completely missed. With everything that had been happening, it was hard to make the best decision, because they simply weren't qualified enough to make it.
Since Arya and Zane became more serious, he had brought her in to the gang. That was around the time he had found out she was a witch. And a powerful one at that, which was definantly valuable to the team. Since the whole druidic discovery, he had been working closely with Arya to try and learn more about magic, and in time himself. In many ways Jasper was like Dumbledore...Telling him of who he really was, the only thing was Jasper was rather scary and there was no bright and shiny Hogwarts...Unless that was something he forgot to mention in their little chat.
"I wonder when the others will get here..." He stated softly. He didn't particularily think the two of them were skilled enough to take on one vampire, let alone the risk of taking on a few at once. Arya was getting pretty good with magic, but it wasn't enough force to take on a vampire. Zane could brawl with them, which was just a way of getting his ass kicked even quicker. His magic was progressing fast, as Jasper had stated, however he couldn't fight off vampires or anything like that. He was still perfecting pencil floating, and learning small chants, with assistance from Arya.

Christine ran down the side walk wrapping her jacket quickly around her. She was late, she knew she was. Work had run late that night, she had had some kids come into the shop at the last minute and they had knocked over a whole barrel of beetle eyes. She had chased them out with her best swear words and was pretty sure they would never show their faces there again, but she still had to clean up all the tiny little black things. Which is not very pleasant, by the way; they squish in your fingers and under feet so easily and then you're stuck with eyeball all over you. Not to mention that she had forgotten her stake and crosses at the shop and had to turn around to grab them. She was definitely running late. Plus, walking alone of these streets made her nervous these days. She used to walk these streets at night all the time with total confidence that she could handle herself in any situation. Now, she never walked alone if she could help it and never with out a cross and a stack. Her mom had looked at her a little strangely at first when she started wearing a cross, but she hadn't said anything, she Christine had left the subject untouched.
She rounded the corner and saw Zane and Arya walking slowly into the graveyard. At least she wasn't too late. It made her feel better that she didn't have to do this alone. She would have, but she preferred not to. They were both nice anyway, though she didn't know either of them that well. They were sort of thrown together when everything happened and they had become friends out of necessity. But it just didn't feel like there was something there to unite them. No slayer to bring them together and tell them what to do.
She snuck up behind them and whispered "Boo," only realizing after that she probably shouldn't do that if she wanted to keep the stacks out of her own heart. She couldn't help it. Vampire slaying was all gloom and doom all the time, she needed to lighten it up every now and then. Anyway, Zane was way too easily scared. "Sorry guys, I got caught at the magic shop. Beetle's eyes are not fun to clean up on your own. So, what's the game, are we expecting someone or are we just wandering until we find something looking for an ass kicking?" She walked between them and threw an arm around their shoulders. She knew they were dating, or something; it was kind of hard to tell with these two. She liked to bug them about it, just to make sure it didn't get in the way of the actual slaying. Anyway, she hated when people got too serious about their relationships.

Arya smiled as Zane tried to make jokes about their current situation. It was pretty much all they could do, it was so serious that sometimes someone needed to break the tension. Zane was usually good at that because he was generally good at creating comedic relief in situations that direly needed it. She gave him a quick hug before laughing and saying Hey I had to run all the way here, and I don't live that close. My little sisters were bugging me before I left so I ended up running late she replied. She loved her little sisters and so it didn't really bother her that she had been late, but this was important too.
Yeah no going into the graveyard alone, I don't want a vampire boyfriend she replied with a teasing smile. She knew he was more careful than that but shit could happen and she would be devastated if anything ever happened to him. As they were turning to walk into the graveyard Christine popped up behind them and said 'Boo' this cause Arya to jump a little but then turn around and laugh. Geez Christine, I could have stacked you right there you know! she said in a fake snotty voice. Glad you made it, looks like we were all a little late, except Zane who is never late she laughed looking from Christine to Zane. Arya had only met Christine when they had all started working together but she had found the other girl cool and easy to get along with.
So are we ready for some slaying? she asked looking around to make sure there weren't any obvious vampires around. Things are been a little tense without a slayer but they were making due with what they had. Eventually another slayer would show up or so they were hoping at least. It wasn't like Arya felt like she had to help out by killing vampires but she figured if her abilities could help then she might as well. Besides keeping people safe especially the ones she cared about was always a good thing. [/blockquote]

He smiled at Arya. "Thats good then." He didn't want to be a vampire, and gathered a vampire boyfriend might not be the most desireable thing to have, especially for someone like Arya. "Unless you're into the whole creature of the night and bitey thing..." He teased slightly, before placing his arms behind his head, awaiting the rest of the crew to turn up. However it appeared it was only going to be them tonight. Great. Looks like they'd be the newest vampire couple in moments to come.
He was relieved, yet startled when he heard the familiar voice come up from behind and surprise them. At first he jumped, then realized who the face was, and smiled slightly. "You know...Its not really nice to jump up behind people like that. If I don't get killed by a vampire tonight, I'd definantly get killed by your stealthyness," he chuckled softly. "Its good to see you made it, beginning to think that it was only us." Still, he couldn't help but doubt even the three of them. They had no muscle. Zane and Arya were basically the book nerds, and no offence to Christine, but she was just a girl. Just a girl. There was no slayer to safely get them out of any vampiric situation, and there was no Preston to use his strength against the vampires, or even Catherine to help out or provide effective means of escaping death. What were three students expected to do, all by themselves? Unfortunately for Zane, this meant that he had become the muscle. Though he was sure Christine could probably beat him up.
He glanced back at Christine at her question. "Dunno..." He replied softly. "There isn't really anyone left to come is there?" It was the sad reality. They were now alone, but so entrenched into the supernatural by now, that they couldn't just refuse to do their part and help out when necessary. "Ready for slaying...? Hey...Is anyone ever ready for that?" He paused softly, thinking of Gemma. She was just a school kid, like they were, however she had a destiny and therefore was ready for it. What did they have?
