Everything was going to hell. It was painfully obvious as the days and weeks went on. Ever since Gemma was killed, then revived then comatose, Miami had pretty much been chaos… not that you’d notice, considering how chaotic it was by nature. Still on the demon front, it was hellish. Humans were being killed every day, mutants were turning on other demons, gangs were being formed the battle lines had been drawn. If Logan thought the whole demon situation was bad before, it was far worse now.
In all of the chaos he had found a partner in crime, a port in the storm who he could rely on through thick and thin. But things got complicated, she was the slayer. Logan was also old enough to be her ancestor. In age alone, the two were emotionally at the same level of stunted maturity. She had been forced to grow up to soon, while Logan was allowed to stay young forever, they met halfway. At least that’s how he justified it.
It had been a while since their kiss, she had left the apartment before he returned with news about the demon she fought. Lilith. He hadn’t seen her since, he expected her to walk through the door but she didn’t. She didn’t even call him to let him know she was safe, he did recipe a letter from an old friend that informed him she was safe but it wasn’t enough. He had to see her. She had been walking around blind to the situation at hand, Lilith was an old one. One of the oldest and most powerful demons in existence. He had decided the best place to find the Slayer would be the cemetery, an area she frequently visited, after all the recently turned vampires would emerge and when was best to dust a vampire than when it was raw to the world.
Logan had parked his car by the rear entrance, knowing that if Eliza saw his car she would turn around. She was mature, but she was still a teenager. He had camped out pretty centrally, leaning against an old tombstone, he nervously smoked a cigarette, why hadn’t she arrived yet. He worried something had happened to her, suddenly he heard some voices in the distance, he was ready to fight when he saw a group of kids stumbling about, clearly drunk. He sighed and walked over to them, his face changed, and he snarled, ”Scram!”. The kids didn’t waste a second as they fled the graveyard, it wasn’t safe for them there, maybe he could have been more eloquent but a little scare never hurt anybody.

It had been so repetetive the last few weeks. Wake up, go to school, come home, do homework, change, go on patrol, go home, sleep and then do it all again the next day. She now had two watches in Miami to keep an eye on her, Naomi and then new guy Jonathon. She liked them both in different ways, Naomi was harsh and very focused on training while Jonathon was more relaxed and fun. Right now Eliza was solely focused on patroling and getting her job done to the best of her ability. Tonight was the graveyard.
As she walked into the graveyard she saw some kids running out past her. A spectical like that usually meant that there was something bumpy and scarey lurking around also known as a vampire. It would be nice to get some action since the last couple nights had been surprisingly slow going. It had been nearly two weeks since she had talked to Logan or even seen him but her mind rarely drifted back to him due to the fact that she was constantly busy. Sometimes before she could fall asleep she would think about him and when she did that usually meant a bad nights sleep.
As she walked through the graveyard she saw some cigarette smoke billowing from somewhere in the distance. She decided to check it out, it was either a really stupid person or a vampire that thought he was badass. As she got closer to made out the shape and frame of the person standing there and stopped in her tracks. What are you doing here she addressed the figure standing there. She didn't need to say his name or even acknowledge him really, he would know she was talking to him. It seemed like whenever she went off on her own he was somehow keeping watch on her. It would sort of piss her off if she found out that he had been following her around like he had before. Before it had been sweet now it would just be irritating. [/blockquote]

He waited for a few moments, deciding that he would leave if she didn’t arrive in the next five minutes, it was another ten minutes before Logan picked up her scent. He knew it was her, it was a dark night so he could barely see her. Logan dropped the cigarette, he extinguished it with his foot. When she spoke her voice was unmistakable. He fought a smile at the familiar accent, perfect English with a trace of an accent.
He wanted to ask her why she didn’t call why she didn’t stay in the apartment that night. But she was being cold, stand offish. Maybe Naomi’s influence was rubbing off on her. He didn’t know if that was a good or bad thing. He held back a smile, barely able to make eye contact with her. He felt almost ashamed, but he wasn’t sure why. ”I needed to see you.” he said taking a few steps closer, ”I’ve got information on the girl that attacked you, well attacked us.” he added.
“How are you? You weren’t there when I got back.” he said matching her cold tone, he sounded as if he didn’t care about her. “I hear you’ve even got a Watcher now.” he said turning away from her and beginning to take a stroll around the graveyard. He wasn’t sure why she was being so defensive, he knew he should have never kissed her, it made things too complicated.

When he said that he "needed" to see her she winced a little. It wasn't something she wanted to hear. She didn't want to know that he had been wondering where she was. But when he meantioned the information she forced herself to believe that maybe he only needed to see her to speak strictly business. Why was she even trying to fool herself? Maybe because it made the pain a little less, the rejection feel a little less real. She wasn't really sure but it was easier to make up lies to tell herself than accept the truth anymore.
What did you find out? she asked turning and following him as she started to walk around the graveyard. He was starting to be cold and stand offish but she figured he was doing to her what she was doing him. She was being cold and so was her, it was a never ending circle and eventually someone would have to break it. She felt bad about leaving, she really did but things had been too complicated, too intense and staying hadn't really been a viable option for her. She wished things could be different but right now they weren't.
Sorry for leaving, just felt a little smothered I guess. Had to get out and get some fresh air and then I ran into Naomi and she took me back to her place. I have been good I guess, alive at least she replied with a shrug walking next to him but not too close. A lot of the emotion she had once held was bottled up and hidden away now, her voice was dull, her eyes duller. Being a slayer could do that to you though, harden you but so could love she supposed. I have two watchers techinically I think. Naomi and Jonothan, complete opposites of each other but it is good for me to have someone to listen to she replied.
How have you been? she chanced to ask not sure if she wanted the truth. [/blockquote]

”She’s powerful, I found out she could kick my ass with very little effort, she can also make a room full of demons mess their pants just by walking into it.” he would have shown the battle scars he had received from the demon but they had healed over, ”I dug a little deeper and found out she’s an old one, a very old one. I’m not actually sure how old yet but I’ve got somebody working on in.” he informed the slayer, old ones were bad news. When they were around nobody was safe. ”I managed to get away, she’s not used to technology yet so that could give us an advantage but she’s fallen off of the radar, since that night nobody has seen or heard from her. I’d like to think I scared her out of town but I know that’s not the case.”
He nodded, listening to her apology, he could understand maybe he was being too over protective of her, he just couldn’t bear to see her hurt again.”I’m sorry for making you feel that way, we should have gone together, maybe if we did we could have actually hurt her, now she’s out there knowing that we’re weaker than her. He said, he should apologize for kissing her but he can’t put it into words. “Naomi, she is hardcore, but you’re pretty hardcore as well. So I’m guessing you’ll make quite a dream team.” he knew Naomi previously, and she was indeed tough, she had helped him escape the watcher’s council.
”Me, I’ve been fine, good. Great actually.” he lied, in fact he had spent the days after Eliza left drunk and beat up, once he regained sobriety and his wounds healed he had gone out looking for trouble and finding it. Beating up demons really helped with anger issues. ”So we’re good now?” he asked a hint over nervousness in his breath. He was beginning to understand the expression “Can’t live with ‘em, can’t live without ‘em.”
