It had been a week since she had discovered that she was the slayer. One week and things were already proving to be more than she was able to handle. Just this afternoon she had been training on her own when a girl had approached her from seemingly nowhere and attacked her. Not expecting the fight she hadn't been able to really defend herself. Especially because she had no idea who or what the girl was. It had also been a week since she had seen Logan. It was hard enough for her to deal with not being able to rely on him without having to seem him all the time as well. She had thought that maybe a clean cut would be the best, but it so far hadn't been. She missed him like crazy.
Naturally when she had awoken in the park, after being knocked unconscious, she had gone straight to Logan's. Still in a pair of black capri stretch pants and a black and pink sports bra it was a little revealing but she didn't care right now. It took her a while to get to the apartment that Logan resided in but when she did she descended the stairs to the basement and knocked on his door. The marks that covered her body were easily seen. Her left cheek was split open and bruised, she had multiple scratches across her chest and neck and her stomach and ribs showed many bruises off all sizes and colors at the moment. She pretty much looked like a bruised apple right now. [/blockquote]

Logan had spent the first part of the week moping, Eliza’s sudden departure had hit him hard. But after a night of heavy drinking with Owen he had realised that now was the time to take action, with two forces of good in the city things could only be getting better. He spent the rest of the week partially stalking Eliza and dealing with some witches who were planning a mass sacrifice. He watched her training and kept an eye on her as she patrolled, he even stopped by to see her in school.
He sat in his office as sun spilled through the huge window. The temp he hired had quit after a squid headed demon inked all over her, Logan could not find a tall tale large enough to explain what had happened and paid her an a six figure severance package to keep her quiet. Temps were not the way to go now that the city was really losing it more demons were paying him visits, he had the phone calls transferred to his basement while the door was fitted with a security camera.
He sat on his bed post workout, he alternated, 100 sit ups, then 100 press ups for two hours before deciding to give in to a guilty pleasure he sat on his bed and turned on ‘The View’ on the large plasma screen that had recently been mounted on the wall. He didn’t understand why the rich human women were complaining, their lives were void of true hardships. Try fighting a Cthlon demon with one arm tied behind your back and a blindfold; then you could complain. He glanced at the TV until he heard the knock on his door. He walked quickly to it and opened up to see Eliza standing in front of him, she was in a bad shape.
Instinctively his face morphed, he reverted to his vampire’s form. ”What the fuck happened to you? he was ready to go on a rampage, if it had been night when she was attacked he would of been there but in the daylight he was useless. ”Who did this to you? he demanded to know as he ushered Eliza into his room sitting her down on his hart mattress, he closely examined her wounds. As she walked into his house she glanced around, it was somewhere she had never been before actually. He sat her on his bed and started going over her wounds. None of them are life threatening, I'm gonna be ok I think she stated trying to ease his worry at the moment. I was in the park training earlier today when a girl, about my size approached me. She had blonde hair, blue eyes, pretty pale skin but obviously wasn't vampire. She started off just wanting to train with me and when I declined the offer she went beserk. Said something about them not making slayers like they used to anymore before I lost consciousness she replied.
The girl was probably a demon of some kind but not one that Eliza had ever encountered or even learned about for that matter. It scared her that she was already getting her ass handed to her after only a week of this new life and the fact that people were already trying to kill her. Logan's hands were extremely cold as he barely touched at a few of her wounds causing goosebumps to appear on her skin. She winced a little as his hand grazed a bruise spreading across her ribcage. You were the first person I thought to come to, I don't really know why. But I thought maybe you could help me discover who or what attacked me so I don't get killed next time. She went easy with me, spared me. She did give me a warning, she told me to leave while I still could. I have a feeling that if she and I meet again it will be a kill or be killed sort of situation and I don't even know what I am trying to fight. She looks like a young girl she replied a little uneasily. She was past the stage of crying when things like this happened.
Now instead of fighting her destiny she was accepting it but she knew that she needed some help. Her eyes glanced to the TV and a small smile formed on her lips as she realized what he was watching. It was still funny to her to see him act like such a human even though he hadn't been human for many many years. Sorry to interrupt though, you look like you were trying to relax she replied looking back at him, at his eyes. The eye contact didn't last long before she glanced down suddenly aware of how little clothing she was wearing, awkward for her but Logan probably didn't notice due to the fact that every inch of her that didn't have clothing was covered in scrapes and bruises. Logan checked her injuries over just to make sure; he applied a little pressure on her bruised areas to assure she hadn’t clocked any internal damage. He hummed and ahed a little as he made sure she hadn’t broken any ribs before grabbing a n antiseptic wipe from a cupboard. He wondered what could have done this to a slayer with so little effort. It wasn’t until he had completed his examination he truly realised how scantily clad the slayer was. If blood still pumped through his veins he would have blushed, he instead stood up and put some distance between himself and the slayer.
He pondered her description of the assailant. He tried to piece the information together but there wasn’t enough to get a suspect, he shook his head “I can go to the demon’s head and ask some questions but I don’t know if we’ll get anything definitive.” he shrugged his shoulders.
He smiled a little as she told him he was the first person she through of, her watcher clearly hadn’t arrived yet. He nodded, “All I can do is help you train.” he said, he knew she wouldn’t accept him as a full time partner so he had resolved to be her mentor, alongside her watcher, to help her truly understand how the demonic mind worked. ”I know you’ve had extensive military training but things have stepped up a gear, your not just a soldier in an army, you’re the knight on a white horse leading the army. Figuratively speaking. he said with an awkward smile.
He saw her eyes focus on the TV as Whoopi and Joy moaned about the weather. “Research purposes only,” he tried to explain shutting the TV off at the wall. “I don’t enjoy it.” he lied as he opened hic cupboard once more, he didn’t have a single bite to eat. “I don’t have anything I could offer you to eat, you look famished. We could go upstairs and order Pizza or something.” he suggested clearly uncomfortable with anybody being in his living space. It was dark, very minimal, just a TV, some weights, a bed and a small cupboard it wasn’t very homely, but he didn’t need homely he needed somewhere he could rest during the day, a lack of physical possessions could look strange to an outsider. Eliza nodded when he said he could go to the demon head and ask some answers. It was unlikely that the demon head would even really be able to tell them anything useful but it was worth a shot. Anything was worth it at this point considering she really didn't feel like getting her ass handed to her again by a size 2. Thank you, anything helps she replied with a sigh and glanced up at him again.
Training is good. I do need some more of that apparently. SAEB made the perfect soldier, to fight in an army that is. But they never trained me to fight alone at this magnitude she replied casting her eyes downwards again, it was rather depressing and a downer that she was failing so horribly. If this is my destiny why am I so bad at it? her voice was discouraged, this was her destiny and she couldn't even handle it yet. It really sucked actually. For once she just wanted to be able to control the situation.
Eliza nodded with a skeptical look on her face and a small smile, he got all uneasy when she noticed his show which meant he actually did enjoy it but was trying to hide it. Ah well, she wasn't once to judge. She also noticed that when he was done checking her wounds he put some distance between her and him, that was odd to her. I could go for a pizza I guess she replied with a shrug and stood up from the bed with a little wince, still sore of course. [/blockquote]

He didn’t comment, he believed that she could be a great slayer only she hadn’t reached her full potential yet, he just hoped she would get the opportunity to fulfil it. She had the skills, the power but he could tell she now lacked the confidence, the sparkle that he saw in her eye had been extinguished, she lacked the love of fighting the good fight that she possessed when it was her own choice.
” You’re not doing a bad job, you’re alive, which is more than we can say for every other slayer.” he tried to comfort her but he clearly failed, ”Plus we can learn from this, when life hands you lemons, make lemonade.” he sagely imparts the wisdom with a pat on the shoulder. He had never actually tasted lemonade, nor did he know if the saying was truly applicable in the situation. He had only learnt the phrase from the View’s hot topics.
He took her hand in with his own, his large hands engulfed her own as he led her out of the basement. He led her up the staircase and into the office, the door was locked, clearly Owen was bored and had closed up shop for the day without Logan’s knowledge, he frowned walking to the table where his associate had scribbled a note explaining his absence. He sighed before picking up the phone.
He opened the door to the office’s kitchen, and sniffed the air, whatever Owen had previously cooked lingered in the air, at least for Logan anyway. He dialled the number that was scribbled onto the whiteboard under the words ‘PIZZA PIZZA’, the kitchen was now fitted with a table and chairs, items it previously lacked, Logan had allowed Owen access to a credit card, an action he later regretted however he had to admit the additional furniture was nice, along with the new computers, the online gambling bill however wasn’t what he had in mind. He passed Eliza the dialling phone “Order whatever you want,” he said unsure how to comfort her, he knew she needed to train but he would allow her today off. She had been through enough.

Eliza nodded acknowledging that what he said was probably true and that she was just being too hard on herself. It was something that wasn't really that unusual for her. Her toughest critic had always been herself, if she didn't do something perfect she would force herself to keep trying and keep redoing it until it was right. Things hadn't changed now except for that fact that stepping into Gemma's shoes had but a damper on her mood and spark. It was harder to want to fight when you knew you had no choice, when you knew it was only a matter of time before you died and were replaced. It was that thought that bothered her, how special and chosen could she be when she could just be replaced in a few years when she reached her expiration date. She was like a carton of milk, once she went bad she would merely be replaced.
It wasn't good to think like that though and she was going her best to keep her mind off of such topics. Don't worry, I just need time to let everything settle in still. I am accepting it slowly and trust me you don't have to worry about me trying to back out of my duties. I know what I am supposed to do and I will do it she replied with a small, almost forced smile up at him. When he took her hand it caused a light heat blush to cover her cheeks and chest, turning her only slightly pink under her olive skin. Of course right after that happened she was mentally kicking herself for it happening, these were still things she didn't really understand.
Following Logan upstairs she took a seat at the table in the kitchen and happily took the phone from him when he offered it in her direction. When the person on the other line answered she replied One small stuffed crust pizza with hawaiian toppings please after giving them the address she hung up the phone. Thank you again, not just for today but for everyday. I know you think you are being stealthy but I know you have been watching and following me. It is weird but I can feel you when you are close, I know when you are there and I feel safer when you are she replied with a genuine smile of gratitude. To accompany that she stood up and kissed his cheek lightly Really, thank you for everything that you have done for me. You gave me someone to trust, someone to go to when I need help and someone to talk to. I can't ever repay you for that she whispered softly her body still close to his. [/blockquote]

Logan opened the fridge and grabbed a flask of chilled blood. He grabbed a large mug from the cupboard and proceeded to pour in the thick blood. He suddenly shuddered, the blood spilt out of the cup and across the worktop, she knew he had been following her. He was scared to look at her, he felt like she was judging him a little, he couldn’t help but feel protective over her. At first he believed it was a paternal sort of feeling but he couldn’t deny any longer he was attracted to her. He turned around to face her as she rose to her feet.
She was smiling, it was a huge relief for the vampire, she walked closer and her warm lips pressed against his cold cheek. He closed his eyes as she spoke to him, You don’t need to repay me. he assured her, his hand stroking her arm as if to keep her close to him. He bowed his head so it was closer to her ear, his free hand stroked the hair from her face to behind her ear, “I’ll always be here for you.” he whispered into her ear, there was nobody around but he felt nervous around her.
”I just want to make sure that you’re safe,” he said quietly again, he couldn’t resist anymore as he put his hand onto her chin and slowly tilted her head upwards and leant forward their lips connecting for the first time. The hand on her arm now snaked around her waist and drew her closer towards him as their bodies pressed against one another. He knew he shouldn’t be doing this but he was past caring now.

It was a surprisingly comforting feeling to be clsoe to Logan like this. Of course they had worked together a ton of times and had been around each other even more times then that but this time was just different. This time there was more than just friendship and caring, there was passion. It wasn't like the blood on the counter was a turn on but being around Logan so much had caused her to pretty much just phase those things out, she didn't even notice his vampire antics more of the time like she used to. Now he was just Logan.
Her body shivered slighty under his icey touch but she made no move to try and break the connection between them. When his hand reached up her chin she awaited the kiss that she knew was coming. When their lips touched she allowed herself to mold into him with the help of his arm around her waist. Kissing was brand new to her, this was literally her first kiss in her entire life, not counting the goodnight kisses she used to recieve from her foster mother at night, but those were on her forehead. This kiss actually meant something, it was a single of deep caring and a mutual feeling of desire they both felt for each other.
Eliza had no idea if she was even doing it right or how long these things were supposed to last. She wasn't sure what to do next, should she pull away or let him hold her against his cool body. It did occur to her that this situation was kind of ironic, a vampire falling in love with a slayer, a slayer falling in the love with a vampire. It didn't seem like the right way to go about things considering her destiny was to kill his kind but Logan was different. In Eliza's eyes he was nothing but a man. [/blockquote]

Logan broke the kiss after a few minutes, he moved his head back a little his hand was still in position under her jaw, their lips were close enough to touch as he spoke softly to her. ”We can’t do this,” he didn’t move away as the he tried to make the moment last longer than before it came to its natural conclusion, her warm breath tasted sweet as she remained close to his face. he turned to see the sun had now set. ”There’s so many reasons we can’t be doing this.” he drew his head away with great resistance as if he was drawn to her like a magnet.
”Stay here, I’ve got some things to deal with.” he said as he walked away from her closing the door leaving her in the kitchen. Once he closed the door he stood still for a moment, what had he just done. She was just a girl, a young inexperienced girl. He resisted punching a hole in the wall as he grabbed his leather jacket from the coat stand and returned to the kitchen.
“I’ve spoken to the council, they have sent somebody to assess the situation, so you’re watcher will be here soon, you’ll have somebody else you can rely on.” he said coldly, he didn’t mean to but he couldn’t risk her getting close to him. in his life he had been with many women, many women, Yet she seemed different, since he had gained a soul he had only embarked on meaningless one night stands, the closest he came to anything real was with a girl at the Watcher’s Council but he cut that short as well. “I’ll be back before sunrise.” he said looking at the floor and avoiding her eyes, he glanced at her eyes for just a second before he left, he was able to see the confusion in her eyes but he didn’t dwell on it. He swiftly left the office, he was going to find out who hurt her, one way or another.

When Logan pulled away from her she felt the rejection cut through her like ice. It hurt like nothing she had felt before, hurt worse than getting beaten to the ground by some unknown demon. This wasn't physical pain it was mental and emotional. She had never felt rejection before considering she had never felt attraction or love either. You're right she whispered and pulled herself from his grasp before he could fully let her go Sorry she muttered and turned herself away from him, not wanting to see him or have him see her.
Good luck she added as he walked out the door telling her to stay put and that he would be back before sunrise. Of course he would, if he didn't come back he would turn to dust. He was just a vampire, that was something she had forgotten, but something that she knew she should remember. After he left she felt hot tears roll down her cheek, but the tears only made her angry. She didn't want to feel like this anymore, she didn't want to care especially like this. Her job was to save people and then die fighting the good fight, there was no room for love in her life.
In frustration she slammed her fist into the countertop, not hard enough to break it but hard enough to split the skin on her knuckles. The light trail of blood trickled down her hand before she went to the sink and ran it under some cold water. She had never dealt with this type of anger, the type that made it impossible to sit in one spot for too long. Logan had told her stay there which meant she should, but she wasn't going to. I can do whatever I want to she mumbled to herself and turned walking out the front door and slamming it behind her. [/blockquote]
