It had been several days since Hope woke up at home with no memory of how she got there. When she awoke there was an old book clutched to her chest with what looked like old story's of supernatural creatures. Why did she have this? Where did she get it? The last thing she had remembered was Becky menacing her in the bathroom then....nothing. Stepping into the library she sat down to read the book and try to get her head on straight. She felt better then she had in awhile. The darkness that had been consuming her seemed to have lessened and she could think clearly again. But inside she knew something was wrong. Nobody had heard from Becky in days and her family was worried. She must have run away. She couldn't have done anything to her. She wasn't like that. While looking through the book she found that it didn't contain story's at all but it talked about demons and other supernatural creatures. Why on earth did she have this? Embarrassing as it was to be reading stuff like this she felt drawn to it. Like she was supposed to find something in it. Hope felt intrigued by all the different types of creatures inside. But of coarse they were only fiction. None of this was real...but still...she couldn't put the book down. Lost in her own little world she started to talk to herself and ask questions to the air around her. Until she looked up for a moment and discovered she wasn't alone anymore. Blushing crimson as the other girl looked over her shoulder. Completely at a loss for words she fidgeted nervously. Not knowing how to react in a situation like this. Was this girl going to pick on her like the rest? Make fun of her? Should she leave? Confused and a little scared she waited for the girls reaction.

The library, a frequent stop during her day at school because it was the only day that she could ever get peace and quiet. School was good in the sense of learning and being taught but it sucked because of the people in it. At least the popular jerks never came in the library unless they absolutely had to which wasn't that often. Today she was in the library alone which was fairly unusual because in general she was there with Zane. The new librarian, a temporary one of course, was some old dimwit that didn't know a single thing about books. It was rediculous in her opinion.
Today as she walked in she saw a girl sitting at one of the tables that she had never seen before. As she got closer she noticed that the girl was looking at some sort of supernatural book which was intriguing to Arya since her and some of her friends were now standing in for the slayer until a new one arose. Meaning they were going around at night patrolling, but of course they didn't do that good of a job at it, but at least they were trying. Arya peeked at the book over the girls shoulder, not like creepy close or anything though. When she realized the girl had noticed her she smiled Cool book she replied and walked around the table taking a seat on the opposite side of the girl and taking out her own books.
At this time she had four books, Witchcraft of the Centries, What Goes Bump in the Night, Latin Dictionary and Sumerian for Dumbies. She was studying up on her witchcraft but of course people that chanced a glance at her books just thought that she was interested in linguistics and fairytale type stuff. It was pretty rare that someone would actually think that she was a witch unless they knew about the supernatural themselves. Her boyfriend was a practicing warlock as well but wasn't quite as advanced as she was. Though he was learning a lot faster than her due to his ancesters, being part druid gave him an edge on her, it was irritating but she lived with it. I'm Aryanna, sorry for looking over your shoulder, your book caught my eye she replied trying to make things not seem so completely awkward. [/blockquote]

Slowly raising her head she looked at the girl sitting next to her. Remembering seeing her a few times coming out of the advanced classes. Arya must be really smart. I can barely make it through general classes. She didn't look like a mean person. Looking closer she could feel the gentle power coming off of her. She hadn't felt anything like it. It felt....nice. A part of her wanted to cuddle into her and nestle into that feeling but even she knew that wouldn't be proper.
Hi, I'm Hope. Nice to meet you. Fidgeting nervously. She wanted this girl to like her but as usual she didn't have anything witty or intelligent to say. Abruptly saying the first thing that popped into her head. "You like witches? I think there kinda scary. But I'm not afraid of you. Are you a good witch then?" The look Arya was giving her made her think that maybe she should have thought more before speaking. I...I. didn't mean to sound like witches are bad or anything cause...well I guess you are one.
Searching for something else to talk about she looked to the book. Do you know anything about demons? I want to know more about them but I don't know anything. You know... If you want to. Keeping her eyes lowered instinctively. Being laughed at and humiliated every time she tried to make friends would do that to anyone. She was hopefull this time however. She really wanted to be friends with Arya for reasons she couldn't identify. All she knew is that she felt more at ease talking to her then she had felt in years.

It surprised her when this girl asked if she was a good witch. How would she even know she was a witch at all? Usually people just guessed she was one of those weird kids that sat alone and read weird books. Which she supposed she sort of was one of those kids but she was also a witch as well. It was funny because now the people that picked on her were nothing to her, they were weaker than her and she knew that if she ever wanted to she could pick them off like flies. Well maybe not quite yet but someday her powers would be good enough for that.
Well I guess I am a good witch, supposing you believe that I am actually a witch. There are good and bad ones but really it just depends on what they chose to use their powers for she replied with a shrug. She figured she was a good witch because she used her powers against evil to help everyone out but she also sometimes had darker thoughts and did enjoy reading books on the dark arts, did that make her bad? She supposed it was all a matter of perspective. If you think about an action but don't actually act upon it then did you do something wrong at all? Depended on your belief and moral systems.
Well I like to study about the supernatural, it is fun and I like to learn about new things. Some people don't believe in any of it but I do. My train of thought is that if somebody knew enough to write a book about it then it must be real because there is no way that someone could make up an entire book about something that never existed. I believe that all the fairytales are based on true events and that the creatures in them were and most likely are still in existance. Whether they are surrounding us is debateable but I am willing to bet that there are plenty of things that go bump in the dark here in Miami she replied with a sly smile. She liked making people think about the supernatural because too many people wrote it off as make believe, but how do you make believes something that never existed? Where did the idea of it come from in the first place then? There had to be some baseline for it. [/blockquote]

Why was everyone surprised when she knew that they had power? Couldn't they see it? Feel it in there very beings? She couldn't understand how that was possible. But people were ether surprised or upset when she spoke about it. She decided she would make a point not to point things like that out again. She wanted to make friends after all.
When Arya told her that she was a good witch she smiled. "I'm glad your a good witch. I don't want to be a toad or anything". Arya felt like a nice person. She was pretty and seemed confident and smart. she wished she could be even half as smart and confident as she was. She wasn't jealous though. It was hard to be jealous of Arya. Her aura was just so bright. It made her want to tell her everything that was wrong and she would make it all better somehow. As nice as that would be she knew that wasn't true though. The part in her head that she kept hidden from the world hated Arya for some reason that she couldn't understand. Wanted her to get away from her. Scared that she would see something in her. Looking at Arya however she couldn't bring herself to be afraid of her.
When she started talking about the supernatural she listened intently. Hanging on her every word. Arya really was smart. She studied the supernatural. Maybe she knew about what was going on with her. But....what if she turned her over to doctors or something. She just couldn't let that happen. She would have to play things smart. "You really think demons and monsters exist?" The way she spoke sounded like she was trying to scare her and it did. But not for the reasons that Arya thought. Arya's conviction that there were evil and dark things in the world gave her a chill. She looked at her hands and almost willed the word monster to appear there.
If she had to be a monster, she wanted to know what kind.

Arya laughed when Hope meantioned that she didn't want to be turned into a toad. That was something that Arya hadn't actually learned how to do yet, transfiguration spells were a little harder to master than the incantations that she was currrently learning to do because of their unpredictability. You never knew what could go wrong with most spells but turning something into something else was one of those things that was generally better left alone. Someday she figured she would learn how to do it but for now she was more focused on learning powerful spells that would actually come in handy during patrols and such.
Don't worry I wouldn't do that. Plus I don't actually know how to do that anyway. I am not that advanced in the practice. Only been studying it for about six months really. But I hope to someday be great she replied with a smile. She was a very driven person and when she set her sights on something she wouldn't stop at anything to accomplish it, which wasn't always a good thing but time would only tell if things were meant to go right or wrong in this particular situation.
Of course I believe in them. There isn't much I don't believe in. I like having an open mind so that when I do discover new things it doesn't scare me. Maybe surprise me a little or startle me but I don't like not knowing what goes bump in the night. Being ignorant to the things around you doesn't really get you anywhere. I see people walking through life knowing nothing except themselves, so self centered and self righteous. Seems like a sad shell of a life to me. Life is meant to be enjoyed and discovering new things is just part of it she smiled. Lots of her spare time had been spent pondering the wonders of the world. There were always going to be unanswerable questions but she like to try and discover as many things as she could, kept things new and interesting.
By the way, I'm Aryanna but people usually just call me Arya for short she added not wanting to be rude by not giving her name. She liked that this girl seemed open to learning new things and was interested in that which people try to ignore and dust off as make believe. [/blockquote]

"I'm....Hope" Suddenly wanting to give a different name that she didn't know. That was really weird. Suddenly confused about everything. Feeling very strange ...like she were less real. Like everything that made her...her starting to slip away. Then the moment was over and she was herself again. Though a good bit confused and scared.
Shaking off the emotions and looking at Arya "ya I'm Hope, people just call me Hope though. Well.... allot of them call me other stuff but I hope you won't call me what they do." Still feeling a little strange from the experience she didn't have the mental strength to keep looking her in the eye and lowering her eyes. Why would Arya even talk to her again. She had done her good deed for the day. But her desire to have a real friend pushed her onward like she always did. She thought this time would be the same result as usual though. "Umm ... If you know you want, I would like to hang out maybe sometime. You could show me magic and stuff and help me do some of this demon studying. Starting to turn red from embarrassment. She probably said the wrong thing and Arya would start laughing at her like the others. She thought something in her would break this time though. She NEEDED someone right now. She couldn't tell anyone about herself...or what she suspected...but it was becoming more obvious every day that she was some kind of monster. But even so she needed someone to care...anyone to care. That and the inexplicable calming aura she seemed to radiate was helping to keep the dark part inside from coming to the surface.
Sitting there holding her breath she just hoped she wouldn't laugh or be mean. She only allowed herself a small amount of hope. She wanted the expected brush of to hurt as little as possible.

Well it is indeed a pleasure to meet you Hope, you seem like the type of person that I could actually get along with. Which is saying something because I have very little for friends here she replied with a smile. Her only friends so far were Christine and of course he boyfriend Zane, he was probably her best friend but that was only because they spent so much time together. It would be nice to actually find a girl to be her best friend because so far she only ever hung out with Zane. Surprisingly people aren't that nice to foreign transfer students she laughed, in the movies people always loved the foreign kids, but not here.
But that would be cool, you could come over sometime or something. I mean my house is pretty lame and so is my family but they usually leave me alone and I have a lock on my door. I have two brothers and three sisters, plus my mom and dad but one of my brothers stayed in England sadly. But still you could come hang out, my family just got some horses that we could go ride if you would like she added. Back in England she had loved riding and had finally convinced her parents to buy her and her sisters some horses so that they could continue to ride. It wasn't like her parents couldn't afford it.
Arya hoped that her and this girl could become friends, besides the girl looked as if she could use some friends. Arya had seen her around a few times before and every time the girl had either been alone or had been getting picked on by the other students of the school, the same students that sometimes picked on Arya. She could hardly believe that Arya would want to spend time with her of all people. She was so smart and pretty and everything else that she herself wasn't. "Really? You would be friends? That is so great!" Unable to control herself she reached over went over and gave Arya a big hug. Not even wondering if it was appropriate or not. Her mind running through all the things that friends did together on TV and in books. She had never had a friend before. She thought of horses and sleepovers and all the things she had never had but hoped that she might have now.
After the show of emotion she sat back down kinda embarrassed at herself for the emotional outburst. "I'm glad we can be friends. I....I don't really have any friends." She hoped she didn't do anything stupid to make her stop being her friend. The idea of having a friend who she could talk to about her problems and make them all go away sounded just what she needed. Things were going to get worse again ... she could already feel the darkness trying to crawl out of the hole it had been pushed into.

It was a surprise when Hope got up from her seat and hugged Arya. It gave her the feeling that Hope might not fully be from around here, cause generally people didn't hug unless they were family or dating. It wasn't that it bothered Arya really, it was just a little odd. Arya hugged her back and smiled No problem at all, I am all for meeting new people. Well actually that is a lie I hate meeting new people, pretty shy myself, but you seemed like someone that could use a friend she replied with a shrug. Her shyness was the reason that she had no friends, that and the fact that everyone at school thought she was a weirdo.
Don't worry about not having friends. All you really need is one or two close ones, ones that you can really rely on. Other than that you don't need much more. The popular people that think they are so cool because they have a ton of friends really don't have any friends, every single friend they have would stab them in the back if it meant they themselves would become queen bitch. High school is one messed up place she laughed and looked at Hope. Arya found it easier to just slide under the radar and mind her own business, it meant she generally got made fun of a lot less. Besides Arya liked helping people no matter what they needed help with. [/blockquote]

She was so happy listening to Arya talk about being friends. That the mean girls didn't really have any friends was hard to believe but she tried. Arya was so smart and wouldn't lie to her. It had to be true then. She looked forward to seeing the horses and talking to her friend like a normal girl would do.
Just as she started to think about being normal the voices in her head started up again. 'But your not normal Hope'. She tried to push the voices away but they continued. All she could do was try to school her face and try to hide it from Arya, she couldn't have her know just how much of a freak she was. 'She will find out what you are' 'They will all find out'
Looking at Arya with a pleasant and happy face she said "I need to go now but thanks allot! I think we will be great friends". Grabbing her pink bunny backpack and started to leave almost skipping. Trying to keep Arya from knowing what was going on in her head.
